Finger Painting Extravaganza

This week I thought I would be brave and try finger painting with the girls. I planned ahead and stripped them down to their dipes. I'm glad I did, because the minute the paint hit the paper, it was instantly in their hair and all over their arms. I also made sure to have a bath ready to dunk them in when they were finished. Another good plan. Here is what they created.

Pen Pals

Over the last week, Izzy and Ava have received a pen pal! Great Grandpa John! The girls were so surprised when they got mail. We opened it up to find a bunch of great Charlie Brown colorings! Here are a couple that Great Grandpa John colored for the girls.
So, since we were stuck in the house yesterday while it was snowing, we decided to color a few pictures for Great Grandpa John to hang up at the nursing home. Ava and Izzy didn't know what to think about the big plastic toys that made marks.

The girls were more interested in eating the crayons rather than coloring with them. But they sure did do a great job for their first drawings!

And for the finished product :::::drum roll::::::

Izzy was VERY upset when coloring time was over. It sure was fun! Maybe next time we'll experiment with finger paint!

One down, one to go.

For the girls' birthday, I decided I wanted to make them each a quilt. Something handmade, comfy, and sentimental. I've had the material FOREVER, but it's kinda hard to sew with two little babies crawling up your frame and needing your constant attention. So... I asked my mom if she would take the girls for a day. Grandma to the rescue! It's amazing how much I got done in about 3, uninterrupted hours! Ava's quilt is finished, and Izzy's is half way done. I'll have to see if I can arrange another "day at grandma's"!

And just for fun... a couple of photos of the girls playing.
Big girl, Izzy!

Back to work I go...

It been a great Winter Break with the girls and Cory. 18 days home was quite refreshing! It was nice to stay in my PJs until noon and watch Finding Nemo, Baby Boost, and Wonder Pets whenever I felt like it. Here are a few pictures from our break.

One more month until the big day!

Today Ava and Izzy are 11 months old. They are becoming quite independent little girls! They crack us up and make us smile daily. We are so lucky to have two healthy, smart, beautiful babies! Here's what they are up to these days...
  • size 3 diapers
  • eating most everything we eat (except spicy food and peanut butter of course)
  • Izzy- 6 teeth, Ava- 2 teeth
  • hold their own bottles
  • walk around furniture
  • starting to climb on things
  • read, read, read! They LOVE books!
  • clapping
  • singing
  • high fives
  • "so big!"
  • waving
  • chattering
  • yelling (when they are angry!)
  • banging
  • sharing
  • cuddling, kissing, hugging
  • words: mama, dada, ball, bottle, duck, bye bye
  • knows what a puppy says
  • understands "no"
  • lots of "testing"
Happy 11 Month Birthday, Izzy!

    Our first scary illness...

RSV has creeped it's way into our home over the past week. It's symptoms, ranging from severe "owie buns" to a barking cough, have taken a toll on the girls and their mama! Yesterday we didn't go to the doctor just once, we went twice. I guess that's the price you pay when you have twins. Both of the girls are in good spirits, except when it comes time to nebulize. Despite it's cute puppy dog nature, the nebulizing machine is quite terrifying. Not only for Izzy (the recipient), but Ava and Mazy too. With time, this nasty virus will pass. Until then, I'm looking into buying stock in Kleenex, Boogie Wipes, and hand sanitizer.

Poor Izzy... just doesn't feel good
    Cute, right?
