4th of July... A Weekend of Independence!

I LOVE long weekends. There is nothing better than good old family time! We started out our weekend visiting Grandma Betty and Grandpa John at the nursing home. To our surprise, a lot of the family was there visiting too. It's always nice to gather around with the whole family to chit chat.

On Friday night, we enjoyed a BBQ at Auntie Christy's house. Despite the power going out, the temperature being 98 degrees (with 98% humidity), the babies screaming and crying for only god knows why, we had fun hanging out with friends. After the rain stopped and the power came back on, we enjoyed some good food and the temperature had dropped about 20 degrees and was quite pleasant!

Saturday was dreamy. Cory had a "Cory Day", fishing with a friend in the morning and then golfing with Josh (my brother) and Joe (my nephew) in the afternoon. So the girls and I headed to my parent's house. I enjoyed a "baby-free" pool day with Leanne and Carole while grandma watched the girls~ ah, bliss. Leanne and I continued that baby-free day with a girls night out FULL of laughs (that is an understatement)! It was a much needed girls night!

Sunday was the day of rest for us. I headed out to Arbor Lakes for a little shopping, Cory mowed the lawn, we took a walk to visit our friend Muggy, ordered in Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, and then snuggled up and watched a movie. The funny thing is, is that we had tried to finish that same movie three times before, but ended up falling asleep each time. I guess that's the what happens when you're a parent to almost 5 month old twins!

The 4th! We headed back to my parents house for a pool party! We had family visiting from Illinois, so of course we had to order a Crave Case for John and some Little Caesar's Pizza. We spent the entire day swimming, playing yard games, chatting, and eating good food. Thanks mom and dad! Ava and Izzy even went swimming for the first time! Izzy LOVED every minute of it, cooing, screeching and laughing. Ava on the other hand was a bit nervous. She splashed around and kicked a bit, but after about 5 minutes, she had had enough.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend! And we ended up finishing our movie (4th time's a charm!) on Monday night. I hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July weekend as much as we did!
